A Cozy Fall NH Mountain Wedding In The Whites

Shannon + Andy’s Cardigan Lodge Wedding in New Hampshire

Some weddings feel like a timeline, but not Shannon & Andy’s. Shannon and Andy got married up at AMC Cardigan Lodge, a cute spot tucked away into the White Mountains with their closest people. There wasn’t a big production or packed schedule. It was just a really solid day with people who were genuinely happy to be there.

Shannon is one of my ICU coworkers, which probably tells you everything you need to know about her. She’s calm, thoughtful, and just really cares about people.

And Andy matches that energy in a way that makes everything feel really grounded.

Being a part of their wedding  didn’t feel like “showing up to work.”  It felt like being invited into something that actually mattered.

When they talked about what they wanted, they kept it suuuuper simple:

  • Wanted the day to feel like them
  • Comfy (and stylish!) vibes
  • Fun was non-negotiable
  • Maybe a little elevated, but nothing over the top

And that’s exactly what it was.

So, if you’re wondering how you can make your own wedding day cozy, intentional, and sprinkled with lots of fun, without going over the top, keep reading.

AMC Cardigan Lodge Wedding: A Mountain Retreat Wedding Venue in NH

AMC Cardigan Lodge is a cute property in Alexandria, NH. You don’t have to be an AMC member to host your wedding here, and it’s a great fit for couples planning an intimate New Hampshire wedding with around 50–75 guests.

The lodging setup naturally creates a relaxed, weekend-away kind of experience which honestly changes everything about how the day feels. I share all about wedding weekend retreats in this post.

Some favorite activities in the area include:

  • Snowshoeing
  • Skiing
  • Hiking
  • Camping

This spot is especially loved by New Hampshire locals because of the views (because, duh!!).

It’s one of those places that just makes sense if you’re drawn to a New Hampshire mountain wedding and want to be surrounded by nature. On a clear day, you can see: Mount Monadnock, Camel’s Hump in Vermont, the Whites (Of course), and Pleasant Mountain in Maine.

Getting Ready at AMC Cardigan Lodge

The morning was slow in the best way.

People were grabbing coffee, hanging out, and talking. No one was rushing around or stressing about what was next; It felt more like everyone already knew what the day was about.

Just being there, together.

Which fit the vibe at AMC Cardigan Lodge perfectly. This NH mountain wedding created that feeling of slowing down without you ever even realizing it. Nobody was distracted by a million things or trying to make everything “look” a certain way. They were just in it.

In the mountains.
With their people.
Doing something really important.

And because of that, the moments just felt different.

The hugs lasted longer, the conversations didn’t get cut short, and the in-between stuff ended up being some of the best parts of the entire day.

I share more about why these moments are especially important to document in this post.

Documenting the In-Between Moments at AMC Cardigan Lodge

One of my favorite parts of days like this is that I don’t have to do a ton of directing. For Shannon and Andy’s wedding, most of the day I was just letting things happen and paying attention.

Their whole day had this cozy, mountain feel to it. It was a little rustic, a little vintage, but still really relaxed. At one point I remember just looking around and thinking, “wow, this is so freaking special.”

I believe this is what people mean when they say they want to actually be present on their wedding day. A day where you’re not trying to keep up with a timeline or worrying about being 15 minutes late to cocktail hour.

That’s exactly what I share with couples all the time. You don’t need a packed day or a bunch of “must-have” moments to make your wedding meaningful. You just need space to actually be IN the moment.

After the wedding, Shannon left a review that honestly says it better than I can:

“Your photographer is so cool!” — every guest at our wedding

“Erica is clearly very talented, but the best part of working with her is the vibes she and Alex (wedding content creation!) bring to the party. Every moment of our wedding day felt easier and more fun with her behind the camera.

Looking at our album brings me right back to the best day of my life in a heartbeat with all the raw emotions that were somehow captured so expertly.”

And that’s always my #1 goal.

If you’re planning a NH mountain wedding in the Whites, or honestly anywhere that feels a little more tucked away, you don’t have to overfill the day to make it matter. Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave a little space for it to just happen.

If this sounds like your kinda NHwedding, I’d love to be a part of it! Get in touch here to share what you’re thinking!
