The coast of Maine is really something special. Besides the views, it just gives such a classic and beautiful vibe. I am highlighting the coastal charm of Lauren and Mac’s wedding, while also helping you create an intimate southern Maine coastal wedding, too!
A Family Legacy on the Coast of Southern Maine
I asked Lauren’s sister to share a bit about the house + properties background. I could just tell that it was such an intimate and special place for their whole family.
“It’s our shared family house that my grandparents bought when our dad was little. So my dad and all our aunts and uncles spent their summers there. Then all the kids and cousins got to do the same. It’s always been a place where all of our family has come together, long days on the beach hunting for sea glass and exploring followed by big family dinners around the table. Four weddings have been held there so far!”
Lauren and Mac’s connection to this place runs deep. One of their earliest dates involved jumping off the very cliff where they exchanged vows—how incredible is that?!
Maine in September can be a bit unpredictable, and their wedding day started off overcast. But just as if the universe knew this day was special, the skies cleared, turning it into the kind of gorgeous sunny day you can only dream about.
Their ceremony was simple, intimate, and perfectly framed by the rocky shoreline. Their ceremony was family led, and was honestly one of the sweetest I have heard in a long time. It was so sweet to see the whole crowd tear up.
Laid-back, loving, and coastal is how I would best describe this day! There’s just something special when weddings feel so deeply rooted in family and tradition, and every detail holds meaning. Rocky Cove was more than just a venue; it was part of the love story!
After the ceremony, the celebration kicked off with oysters and coolers in the backyard—casual, relaxed, and very “Maine.” The fresh oysters were from Portland Oyster Shop, and the catering by Three Seas Fish and Lobster brought even more coastal flair.
When it was time to head to the reception, everyone made their way to Biddeford’s charming downtown. Lauren and her family had poured their hearts into decorating the space themselves, making every detail feel personal and thoughtful.
The band, The Chicken Slacks, brought the energy, and the dance floor stayed packed all night long!
If you’re dreaming of a coastal wedding that blends stunning natural beauty with an intimate, heartfelt vibe, Maine is the perfect destination! The rugged shoreline, charming towns, and warm, welcoming atmosphere make it a one-of-a-kind place to say “I do.”
