New Hampshire Ski Elopement at Bretton Woods

July 17, 2025

Not Your Average “Walk Down the Aisle”

Getting married in ski boots might not be everyone’s dream. But for Suzanne and Joe? It made perfect sense. These two are the kind of outdoorsy, down-for-anything humans who light up when they’re in the mountains. So a New Hampshire ski elopement at Bretton Woods was exactly the kind of wedding day that felt like them—wind, snow, ski mobiles and all.

And yep, I said ski mobiles. We’ll get there.

Getting Ready at Omni Mount Washington

The day started at one of the most beautiful winter wedding spots in New Hampshire—Omni Mount Washington Resort, where Suzanne got ready with the snow-covered peaks outside her window. It’s classic, cozy, and the kind of place that feels equal parts fancy and familiar. Once she was zipped up and ski-ready, we headed to the gondola.

Because why not kick off your elopement with a scenic ride up the mountain? Duhh.

First Look at the Summit

At the top, Joe was waiting for Suzanne in the snow, bundled up and beaming. The wind was wild (like, blow-your-veil-sideways wild), and the mountain’s summit lift was actually closed. But no worries—we had a backup plan, and the Bretton Woods ski patrol showed up with ski mobiles to get us to their ceremony location.

If you’re looking for a White Mountains elopement that includes a bit of unexpected adventure, this was truly it.

Wind, Vows, and the Sweetest Ceremony

Chelsea from The Marrying Jane officiated their ceremony up top—and total props to her for braving the wind and snow with zero complaints. No fuss, no fluff—just a quick, heartfelt ceremony in the middle of the White Mountains with Suzanne and Joe saying what mattered most. It was simple, honest, and honestly? Perfect for them.

Lunch, Cake & Chairlift Celebrations

After they said their vows, we headed down to the lodge for what I can only describe as the most low-key reception ever—lunch, some cake, and a casual toast. No tight schedule. Just the four of us hanging out, eating good food, and cracking jokes between bites!

After warming up and refueling, we got back out there—gear on, cameras ready, still cracking up from lunch. We snapped photos mid-ski, pulled over for a few pit stops when the light looked cool, and just kind of rolled with whatever the day threw at us. Zero stress, easy peasy. Just a solid hang on the slopes.

Ending with the Pups

After a full day of snow, celebration, and straight-up joy, S+J wrapped things up with a quiet dinner and snuggles with their dogs back at their place. It was honestly just a day that unfolded exactly how they wanted it to.
